If I had to sum up my life philosophy in one sentence, it’d be: “Agree to disagree.”

Everyone shares this big blue beautiful orb floating throughout space. I think that’s beautiful. However, it’s not without diversity, and with diversity comes different beliefs, and with different beliefs sometimes comes disagreement, an inevitable. Which is why I personally choose to let people have their different beliefs, even if they directly clash with mine. In an age where disagreement is rampant, and constantly shoved in ones face after the advent of the internet, I do believe that people are entitled to their own opinions and way of life, even if it goes as far as to oppose mine.

There are some people who do choose to live in anger when a disagreement is present. It’s easier to point the finger and shun another, rather than accept that they do have a disagreement, than to choose not to fight it.

Agreeing to disagree I’ve found can also help things blossom between two individuals as well. Rather than letting it turn into a charged conflict, either one party does decide to not speak ever again, which is completely okay, or they decide to do the same, and accept the other despite the difference.

Now, that isn’t to say that there aren’t specific disagreements where this doesn’t work, the big one being when one’s own life is at risk, whether that be a party of people or just an individual. If one side seeks to purposefully cause harm, conflict is needed to limit the amount of harm done of course. However, most things below that level of severity, can be put into practice with efforts to do so, and if one party doesn’t agree to disagree whilst the other does, that’s okay as long as livelihood isn’t at stake: either mentally, socially, or physically.
